Frequently asked questions

How The Dep Hub works for performing arts schools and teachers across the UK.

For Schools

What is The Dep Hub?

The Dep Hub is a UK-wide platform built specifically for performing arts education. It connects performing arts schools and organisations with specialist drama, dance and singing teachers for cover, regular sessions and workshops.

How do most performing arts schools find cover teachers?

Most schools rely on recommendations from their own teachers or posts in Facebook groups. That works until nobody replies, or the person recommended has not been checked. The Dep Hub gives schools one place to find DBS-checked performing arts teachers and book them directly.

How much does The Dep Hub cost for schools?

Schools pay £14.99 per month or £119 per year. There are no booking fees, no commission and no minimum contract. You can pause your subscription at any time.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every school starts with a 30-day free trial, so you can post cover needs and book teachers before you pay anything.

Do teachers pay anything to use The Dep Hub?

No. The Dep Hub is free for teachers. Schools hold the subscription, which keeps more teachers on the platform for you to book.

Can I set my own DBS requirements?

Yes. Every teacher on The Dep Hub holds at least a Standard DBS check. If your school requires an Enhanced DBS check, you can set that as your minimum and only see teachers who meet it.

Is there a minimum booking period?

No. You can book a teacher for a single session, a few weeks of cover, or regular sessions. There are no minimum commitments.

How does booking work?

You browse the teacher directory or post your cover need, then send a booking proposal. The teacher confirms or declines, and both of you receive booking confirmation. All communication happens through the platform.

Is The Dep Hub available across the UK?

Yes. The Dep Hub is a UK-wide platform, so schools anywhere in the UK can find performing arts teachers in their area.

For Teachers

Is The Dep Hub free for teachers?

Yes, always. Teachers never pay to join or use The Dep Hub.

What kind of work is available?

Cover sessions, regular sessions, holiday workshops and short-term engagements in drama, dance and singing, with performing arts schools and organisations across the UK.

How do schools find me?

You set up your profile once, including your disciplines, experience, location, availability and DBS level. Schools search the directory and send you booking proposals. You can also browse cover needs posted by schools.

Do I need a DBS check?

Yes. Every teacher on The Dep Hub must hold at least a Standard DBS check. Some schools require an Enhanced DBS check, and your profile shows which level you hold.

How do I set my rate?

You set your own hourly rate. It is shown only to schools you are working with through the platform. It is not listed publicly.

Do I have to be available all the time?

No. You set your own availability and can update it at any time.

How does booking work?

Schools send you booking proposals through the platform. You review the details and confirm or decline. Once you confirm, both you and the school receive booking confirmation.
